| Punish corrupt officials of CAPD: Manch | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 15: Grameen Vikas Manch (GVM) demanded stern action against Deputy Director, CAPD, Ramesh Chander, who allegedly in involved in embezzlement of funds of the department. Interacting with media here on Monday, President GVM Shamsher Singh alleged that on one side CAPD Minister, Qamar Ali Akhoon declared that the work in the CAPD Department is going on smoothly but on the other side corruption is at its peak under his nose. He said that recently CAPD has raided various ration depots in Marh block and suspended various ration dealers for causing illegal sale and misuse of ration materials. “The department took the said job into its own hand and carried on supplying the material to the consumers on its own, but the Deputy Director CAPD reinstated these suspended ration dealers by getting huge bribe from them, Shemsher informed. Referring one of such cases, Shemsher said in village Bhadrore, CAPD Department had suspended one ration dealer namely Dhanatar Singh for illegal sale of ration material to the open market and a case was registered in the Learned Court. But the CAPD has appointed his wife, Bimla Devi, as ration dealer in his place to carry on the illegal activities, he added. In the year 2009, Shemsher informed Bimla Devi was also suspended for executing embezzlement in the ration supplies. Later on the government appointed its own person to make ration supply to the ration card holders properly. The Deputy Director CAPD is hand in glove with the suspended ration dealer and was minting money illegally from them, he alleged. “When the public approached the said Deputy Director and asked him to conduct an enquiry into the whole episode and also conduct investigation in the supply of ration material, he made lame excuses,” he mentioned and added that the public also asked him to visit on spot in the said village and interact with the public to know about the true facts regarding the misuse of ration material. He informed that the local residents also told the Deputy Director that they have not received any ration material for the last five years. “We are ready to get ration supply through the Salesman of the department but not from these corrupt ration dealers as we are going to boycott the ration supply through these erring dealers” he mentioned.
