Early Times report
Jammu, Feb 15:
Youth Movement for Peace organized two days awareness program on health, hygiene and water sanitation in Village Kotli Shah Danla (R.S.Pura) 17 KMS from Jammu. Badri Nath Sharma Sarpanch, Village Kotli, Subedar Vijay Kumar and Purshotam Sharma were also present in this program. In the program the people were awarded about health, hygiene and water sanitation as the condition of drinking and surrounding water of village Kotli is not good. Impurity level of the water of area is 392 parts per million (ppm) and the water with such impurity level is injurious to health. Moreover the people of village Kotli faced a great problem due to the large intake of urea for agricultural land as this affects the drinking water by contaminating it.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikas Sharma Chairman, YMP said, "We should drink boiled and filtered water only as it is good for health. Boiled and filtered water is not only good for patients but also for children and old people. Impure water is the root cause of many harmful things like mental retardation, stomach disorder, hepatitis, dysentery, kidney and heart disease. In order to prevent these, we should use RO and UV filters and if one cannot afford this, then boiled water is the best and cheapest method."
Vikas Sharma further said, "Today is Anti-War day and we should work together for our Nation's peace and progress and the youth can play 'a major role' in this movement. In-fact our NGO Youth movement for peace has the very same motto i.e. Youth's Movement towards the direction of Peace which is the basic foundation of any Nation's progress." Vinod Sharma Panch, Mani Ram Lambardar, Joginder Singh, P.P. Singh, Rekha Sharma General Secretary, YMP, Ranjana Sharma Dep-Chairman, YMP, Janak Office Adm., G.D.
