| J&K being becoming hub of education: Slathia | | Stresses on joint family system | | Early Times Report SAMBA, FEBRUARY 16 – Due to strenuous efforts of the present Government, Jammu and Kashmir has taken a lead to become a role model State for other States in being a hub of education. This was stated by the Minister for Industries and Commerce, Mr. Surjit Singh Slathia while addressing a students function, here today. He said that this was possible only with the expansion of educational network at tehsil and block levels where thousands of students from outside the State are pursuing higher and professional education. The function, held to observe “Mata Pita Pujan Day”, was organized by Vimal Muni College of Education, Ramgarh in Samba district. He said that steps initiated by the previous and present coalition Governments in strengthening the educational set up in the State are yielding good results which have changed the economic profile of the State, as thousands of students from outside the State are pursuing their professional education in these institutions. He enjoined upon the teaching community and parents to put in best efforts in imparting quality and standard education, besides inculcating moral values among the wards which will help them become responsible citizens of tomorrow. A number of students also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the significance of the day. They were of the view that in an era when the joint family system is fast eroding, the youth should shun the system of nuclear families and take inspiration from Lord Rama and Shrawan Kumar, who sacrificed their comforts in fulfilling wishes of their parents. A scintillating variety programme depicting rich cultural ethos of the State, was presented by students which left the audience spell bound. The Minister gave away trophies among the management members and other local media persons present on the occasion. Besides ZEPO, Jammu, a large number of parents, prominent citizens, staff members and students were present on the occasion. Earlier, Chairperson of the institute presented welcome address and expressed gratitude to the Minister.
