| KPs reject surrender policy | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 16
The Amalgam of the recently formed frontline Kashmiri Pandit organisations reject the proposed ‘Surrender Policy’ for the terrorists who have crossed the Line of Control and are stationed in Pak Occupied Kasmir and Pakistan. Addressing media persons here today President, Panun Kashmir (PK), Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said that the controversial move of the government in this regard is dangerous and has very serious security implications. The stated move of the government to grant amnesty and free passage to the terrorists has agitated the minds of all nationalist forces including the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community. The Kashmiri Pandit community and other marginalised sections of the society in the state have been struggling for the last two decades for relief and rehabilitation and the government has always been non-serious towards their plight, he further said. Chrungoo said that the recent statements of some ministers in the present state government have tried to equate the rehabilitation process of Kashmiri Pandits with that of the terrorists, who have gone across the border for arms training, is condemnable. If the state government persists with this policy, the central government ought to invoke Article 356 and dismiss the state government. Extending full fledged support to Jammu Sangharsh Samiti in its fight over this issue, PK President welcomed all such moves which are aimed at to uphold the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India in the state. He said that the Kashmiri Pandit community has taken the issue of recently announced Indo-Pak talks at this juncture as meaningless since Pakistan has taken no moves in bringing to justice the perpetrators of 26/11 carnage and has been consistently aiding and abetting terrorism against India. On the eve of the visit of the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, we would like to remind him that the Government of India by talking to Pakistan is according legitimacy to a regime that is a known state sponsor of terrorism. We would like to know the reasons behind the governments move in taking a complete U-Turn in its policy of not talking to Pakistan keeping the national interests at bay, said Ashwani Chrungoo He informed that it has been decided to organize a protest demonstration at Jammu on February 25, the scheduled day for the controversial Secretary level talks between India and Pakistan in New Delhi. |
