| Dy CM appreciates Army for demining border areas | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 16 Lauding the role of the Army the Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand to day said, “we are proud of our Army for fighting and safeguarding the borders of the country”.
Speaking at a joint function of army and Civil Administration in the border area of Chaperial Shamwan, Akhnoor of Jammu district today, Mr. Tara Chand also appreciated the Army’s Sadbhawana programme for the development and welfare of various sections of the society especially living in Border areas of the state .
The function was organized to handover 717 kanals and 19 Marlas of demined land in border village of Chaprian Shamwan to the local population for reviving agriculture activities. The work for demining the remaining land will be speeded up.
Mr. Tara Chand expressed gratitude to the Army for fulfilling the demand of the local people to clear 717 Kanals and 19 Marlas of land from mines, adding that the people of border areas have suffered a lot during the period the land remained under the use of army, particularly when these people have no source of income except the farming to earn their livelihood. He hoped that remaining land of 471 acres will also be got demined at an earliest.
On the occasion, Maj General K Majundar, GOC 10 Infantry Division, informed the Dy CM that jawans have carried out the demining process even in the harshest weather conditions with the cooperation of the people and assured that the men in uniform will ensure the security of the country’s frontiers and will also continue to assist the people in the development of the area. He assured the Dy Chief Minister and villagers that demining of rest of the land will be carried urgently and will be handed over to the villagers before July next.
The Army, on the spot, handed over the documents regarding the land to the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu Mr. M.K Dwivedi.
Among others, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal and senior officers of Army and District Administration, Jammu and locals were present on the occasion.
Earlier, on way several deputationists met the Deputy chief Minister and apprised him about their problems.
The Deputy Chief Minister also addressed a public meeting at Kachrial and reiterated the commitment of the Government to provide improvised facilities of drinking water, power, road connectivity, rationing etc. to the people of the State with emphasizes on rural and border areas. He said Government will pool all resources to improve the living conditions of the down trodden and poor people of the State.
Jammu February 16: With a view to equip the children of serving and retired police personnel with computer education, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has sponsored 40 youth for undergoing computer training at DOEACC Centre. The Chairperson, Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (JKPWWA), Dr. Indu Khoda inaugurated the first such training course for 40 children of the serving and retired police personnel at a function held at DOEACC Centre in the Jammu University Campus here today. During the two month long course, these children will be imparted computer training in the areas like GUI based operating system, sheet spreading, internet, web browser, communication and collaboration, multi-media application and making small presentations. After completing the course, they will appear in the on-line examination which will be conducted in June 2010 at the national level. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Indu Khoda advised these youth to work hard and achieve excellence to ensure a better future for them. She said that computer education along with academics is key to enhance their employee ability and a suitable placement in the job market. The Chairperson said that such training programmes for the wards of police personnel would be held regularly both at Jammu and Srinagar so that a larger number of them could be benefited from such initiatives taken by the Police Wives Welfare Association. She asked the management of DOEACC to provide a feed back of progress with regard to training of these youth. She said that the entire expenditure on account of computer training would be borne by the Association. Dr. Indu appreciated the role of DOEACC for organizing the various training courses for imparting computer training to the youth, to enable them to keep pace with the Information Technology (IT) world. |
