| NZ Orthopaedic conference from Feb 19 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 16
Post Graduate Department of Orthopaedics, Government Medical College & Hospital Jammu is organising three-day-long annual conference of ‘North Zone Indian Orthopaedic Association’ (NZIOA) from February 19 and it would lasts till February 21. “This conference is held every year in one of the major cities of North India and it covers the states like Delhi, Uttaranchal, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. We are getting this opportunity after eight years,” Dr Dara Singh, Head Orthopaedics and organising secretary told reporters here this afternoon. “Though it has been named as Zonal level Conference, yet in reality it is no less than any national-level conference, besides an additional international flavour,” Dr Singh maintained. He said that about 400 delegates and 70 senior faculty members would participate in the conference. “The guest faculty represents almost all the states of the country and six of them are arriving from United Kingdom and Germany,” he said. Dr Singh disclosed that the conference would comprise five workshops (courses), over 100 guest lectures by eminent faculty and about 100 free paper and poster presentations by the delegates. The Head Orthopaedic Department said that the conference is to be inaugurated by Minister for Medical Education, R S Chib while Minister of State for Medical Education, Shabir Ahmed Dar will be guest of honour. The Principal GMCH Jammu, Dr Rajinder Singh, who is also the chief patron, shall also remain present on inaugural ceremony. Dr Dara Singh claimed that it is for the first time that a scientific meet of this magnitude is being oragnised in Government Medical College Jammu.
