BJP finalises strategy to disrupt Chidambaram’s visit
2/16/2010 9:59:29 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 16

Ahead of the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram’s scheduled visit to Jammu, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today chalked out the strategy for proposed protest and courting arrests to be demonstrated tomorrow to lodge protest against the government’s readiness to consider the proposal of surrender policy.
In a meeting held under the chairmanship of Shamsher Singh Manhas at party headquarters here, the party leaders took stock of the preparations made regarding proposed protest and courting arrests by over one thousand party activists tomorrow.
Manhas alongwith Leader of BJP Legislature Party, Chaman Lal Gupta was briefed about the meetings being convened in different areas of Jammu city during the last two days to educate the people and the party activists about the surrender policy and ensure their participation in the protest demonstration.
Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that the surrender policy as suggested by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and being endorsed by the Congress-led UPA is a step towards further promoting “gun culture” in the state and demoralizing the nationalist forces.
He declared that Chaman Lal Gupta would lead the gathering of over one thousand party activist, including senior leaders and the MLAs who would hold protest and court arrests tomorrow.
Chaman Lal Gupta alleged that the Congress-led UPA has completely surrendered before the “anti-national” elements.
He pointed out that during the last few months, very strange developments have been witnessed in the state. “Quiet Diplomacy, Justice Saghir Ahmed’s report and now the surrender policy have sent signals that the present Congress-led UPA has made up its mind to accede to what ever the separatists and the anti-national forces demand in the state,” he charged.
