| NCP for prompt supply of essentials | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 16: Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh, NCP President J&K State expressed his concern over non supply of rations, sugar and kerosene oil at the ration depots particularly in the rural areas and also in the cities under various central schemes like BPL, Antodaya. Senior citizens demanded for putting in place foul proof mechanism to deal with this serious problem confronting the people of the state right from Lakhanpur to Leh and Sanasar to Kishtwar. Interacting with a deputation of large number of people from the Panchayats of Sanasar and other far flung areas of Ramban district who were compelled to travel 130 km for lodging their complaint to CAPD minister Qmar Ali Akhoon also met Thakur Randhir Singh here to apprise him about the scarcity of rations and other essential commodities like kerosene oil, sugar in Ramban district. The delegation was led by Bodh Raj Salaria Distt president Nationalist congress party, Ramban and other senior NCP leaders Sham Singh, Rajesh Dutt, Bansi Lal Sodhi, Gulab Chand Bhagat members of consultative committee of FCI. Singh impressed upon Sharad Pawar union agriculture minister and Omar Abdullah chief minister of J&K to take stringent measures against those responsible for mismanagement and proliferation of CAPD rations and kerosene oil meant for the supply to the consumers of the state. The NCP president expressed this dismay that the CAPD department has failed to discharge its duties properly. Singh said that ration supply and kerosene oil in most of the villages of the state has totally collapsed and ration dealers are indulging in black marketing of the ration, sugar and kerosene oil. Singh said that nexus between the CAPD functionaries, millers, FCI and ration depot holders should be broken with heavy hand to ensure timely, regular, adequate quality ration to the consumers of all categories across the state on the rates and scales. Singh assured the deputation that he has taken up this matter with the minister of food and deputed senior NCP leaders and members of FCI consultative committee to meet the minister and raise this public issue in each and every corner of the state. State NCP chief said if state government does not act swiftly to break the nexus NCP will launch an agitation stating that the authorities will solely be responsible for making them take this step.
