Villagers rejoice army’s sahyog

Jammu, Feb 16: During 'Ops Parakram', land belonging to locals of Village Shamwan, Teh Akhnoor, was used for laying minefields in order to stem the flow of an anticipated enemy advance. On 16 Feb 2010, in a simple ceremony land measuring 717 Kanals and 19 Marlas after de-mining was handed over to the local population by the army authorities. People were assured that this land has been de-mined using state of the art equipment. On this occasion, Tara Chand, Dy Chief Minister and Maj Gen K Majumdar, GOC 10 Inf Div were present. Maj Gen K Majumdar, informed the people and the media that Jawans have carried out the de-mining in the harshest of the weather conditions working tirelessly by day and night. Maj Gen K Majumdar, appreciated the support extended by the people to the army authorities and reiterated that the men in uniform will ensure the security of the nation's frontiers and continue to assist the people in the development of the area.
