| Burial of slain militant | | PDP condemns CRPF firing on congregation | |

JAMMU, Feb17:
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the use of “brute” force on peaceful congregation at Redwani in Kulgam district and has demanded stern action against the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel responsible for the incident.
In a statement issued here today, Bashir Assad, PDP Youth president, while condemning the indiscriminate firing on the people when they were carrying body of a slain militant to grave for burial.
Bashir Assad alleged that the security forces deployed in the state were enjoying unbridled powers under the garb of AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act and said that Omar Abdullah led coalition government has miserably failed in protecting the lives and honor of the people of the state.
“Ignoring that an enemy ceases to be so when he is dead, the troops deployed in the state have systematically evolved a strategy to shower bullets on the last ritual congregations of slain militants” Assad alleged and asserted that such dastard acts were detrimental to the peace initiatives being initiated at political level.
The PDP leader further added that Omar Abdullah’s zero tolerance for human rights violations has vanished in thin air as he has failed in translating his words into action.
Assad also expressed his anguish on, what he termed, as failure of State police in arresting the Commanding Officer of 68th battalion who was involved in killing of Zahid Manzoor on February 5 at Brein- Nishat.
