Education key to development says Manohar

Jammu, Feb 17–Terming education a key to the overall development of a society, Minister of State for Cooperatives and Finance Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma has said that the Government has started various schemes to spread quality education across the State.
Addressing the Annual Day function of a School at Hiragana, today, the Minister said that in order to acquaint students with professional and quality education, the Government has set up a number of new professional institutions besides upgrading dozens of schools across the State to provide education especially to rural youth at their doorsteps.
Dr. Manohar advised the students to give their full attention towards academics besides sports activities and arts. He said the need of the hour is to give proper coaching and training to the students so that they can take part in competitions. He asked the teachers to involve student’s community to take part in seminars, debates and art competitions besides sports activities so that they can sharked their skills and compete State and national level competitions. He asked them to give moral education to the students as well.
Referring to the development of Hiranagar constituency, Dr. Manohar Lal said that five tube wells have been installed in Billawar block and eight tube wells would be installed this year. He said that work on model village Chamgundi at a cost of Rs. 3.5 crore would also be started this year. He said a Check Dam would be constructed at Pranjli Parmoli soon. Dr. Manohar announced that a Kandi Area Development Programme would be launched in the State soon in which all components, including Power, potable water, health and education would be covered. Earlier, the students of the Institution presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion. Later, the Minister inaugurated augmentation of Tube Well at Bhagoche Chack. He said on completion, it will minimize drinking water scarcity of the area. MLC, Subashah Chander Sharma also addressed the gathering and highlighted various achievements of the Government.
