| LMD realizes Rs 65 lakh | | | Early Times Report Jammu Feb 17-Legal Metrology Department (LMD) has realized revenue of over Rs 65 lakh so far during the current financial year on account of fine and verification fee. It was stated at a review meeting of the Legal Metrology Department here today chaired by the Commissioner/Secretary, CA&PD and Transport, Asgar Hassan Samoon, who is also the Controller of the Department. Meeting was attended by the Special Secretary, CAPD, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Department and the Assistant Controllers of the department of all the districts of the State. Main issues discussed in the meeting include enforcement of consumer protection laws, implementation of new modified rules of the department and installation of carrato meter for checking quality of gold. Power point presentation regarding working of the department was given during the meeting. Samoon enjoined upon the officers of the department to work in close coordination with the CA&PD to intensify market checking for stringent action against black marketers and profiteers. He also called for coordinated measures to check adulteration in edibles and petroleum products, adding that the interests of consumers should be safeguarded at all costs.
