| Channi Himmat residents demand ownership rights | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 17
Channi Himmat Residents’ Association has urged the Deputy Chief Minister & Housing and Urban Development Minister Tara Chand to confer Free Hold/Ownership Rights to the residents of the colony who have honoured stipulations of Lease Deed and constructed their residential houses. The demand was raised in a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of its President VK Grover. During the meeting, members said that the ownership rights should be transferred without charging any money for the same as the residents have already paid their premium at the time of allotment and fulfilled their obligation by raising constructions as per lease agreement. The members expressed satisfaction over the construction work started by the allotttees after issuance of notices and reminders by the J&K Housing Board which shall facilitate early development of the colony. However the members were of the view that no hasty steps should be taken by the administration vis-à-vis cancellation of the plots and the genuine allottees should be given some more time in view of labour and material shortage due to mass construction presently going on in the colony. Further the association desired that as suggested and accepted in principle by Dy Chief Minister and Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla, the J&K Housing Board should sort out modalities to help the genuine cases in securing Housing Loans from financial institutions for expediting construction works taken up by pepople. The members appealed to the Chief Minister.Omar Abdullah who also holds the charge of Power Development Department to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the colony which has been facing acute power shortage due to unscheduled curtailments.
