Early Times Report

Jammu,February 17:-Reports from across the border reveal that Islamabad has initiated measures for securing additional financial and diplomatic help from the international community, especially the American Government,so that Pakistan was spared of security financial crisis.According to these reports,President Asif Ali Zardari informed a delegation of the American officials, now in Islamabad, that Pakistan had suffered a loss of 35 billion dollars in its fight against the terrorists during the last eight years.
Zardari sems to have utilised the visit of these American officials for motivating Washington on allocating additional military and non-military aid to Pakistan.Among all the devloped nations the US Government is on the top of the list of those countries that have been helping Pakistan in coming out of the current scurity and financial crisis. It seems to be a two-way traffic between Islamabad and Washington. While the US Government has cultivated Islamabad so that it could use Pakistani soil for launching military oprations against the Talibans and the Al Qaeda in Afghanistan,Pakistan has made available all its resources for the American troops so that it was able to receive additional dose of military and non-military aid from America.
It was simply the outcome of Islamabad's anxiety to spare Pakistan from financial bankruptcy that it followed in letter and spirit all the suggestions it had r eceived from Washington. On such suggestion was to launch military operations against the Talibans and against other terror groups.Once Islamabad ordered military crackdown on the Talibans in the Swat vallet and in south and north Waziristan it received additional military and non-military aid from Washington.
No doubt several hundted terrorists were killed in the military operations the rebel infested areas were yet to be sanitised. This is evident from the way terrorists keep on carrying out incident of one major subversive vilence or the other. In fact these terrort acts, including suicide attacks, were being carried out in different parts of Pakistan to force Islamabad to abandon the military operations.Reports said that at one stage the Zardari led Government had plans of entering into a peace agreement with some terorist groups but under the American pressure the Pak move had to be dropped.
It is in the light of these developments that Zardari has urged the international Community, especially the United States,to make available adeauate strategic, political and financial assistance to Pakistan so that the country was able to face the current financial and security problems.(
