| AJABM threatens to gherao LA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 17 The state unit of Anusuchit Jaati Aarakshan Bachao Manch (AJABM) has threatened to gherao the State Legislative Assembly during the ensuing budget session, if any attempt is made to introduce a bill abolishing inter-district recruitment for Scheduled Caste (SC) community. As per the press statement issued here today, Bali Bhagat, spokesperson AJABM and former MLA said, “It has been learnt that the National Conference-Congress coalition has reached to an understanding to introduce a bill in the assembly session to ban inter district recruitments. If such bill is introduced in the Assembly, the AJABM activists would fight it tooth and nail and gherao assembly, besides launching agitation across the Jammu province.” He said that the AJABM activist would also be meeting the Legislators of various political parties to oppose the proposed bill as it is against the concept of justice and the interests of SC and ST communities. The spokesperson said that the Manch would resort picketing the residences of all those legislators who would support such a legislations which would be totally against the interests of SCs/STs. Meanwhile, the Manch has appealed all the SC and ST legislators including Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand to rise above party considerations and oppose the proposed bill tooth and nail to safeguard the interest of the downtrodden communities. Bhagat also urged the legislators to show prudence keeping in view social, legal and geographical complexities on the issue in the state.
