| JKPF felicitates Vikram for theatrical contributions | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 18: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Forum (JKPF) today felicitated renowned theatre personality and journalist, Vikram Sharma for getting best actor award for his performance in English play “In Camera” in State Academy’s theatre competition. The Forum highlighted the contributions of Sharma who since his endeavours in state theatricals has been bestowed with many state and national awards and fellowships in dramatics. Speaking on the occasion, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) appreciated the efforts put in by Vikram Sharma in tuning the state dramatics into broader perspective by including English idiom into it. Manhas was, however, critical about the degradation of cultural activities in the State and impressed upon art loving people including artists to put in their best efforts to promote cultural ethos. He also assured all possible help in promotion of art and cultural activities in all the three regions of the State. Professor Lalit Magotra, renowned Dogri litterateur of the state welcomed Vikram’s effort in coming up on state proscenium with English theatre. Praising his efforts, Professor Magotra emphasized on the need for theatre to be groomed in more comprehensive mode. “English theatre in Jammu is one of the biggest milestones in the state theatrical panorama and Vikram deserves kudos for taking the initiative,” he said. Professor Hari Om, senior Congress leader enumerated Vikrams’ role in ethical journalism and termed his as a man of real letters. “I know him as a friend and a younger brother whom I adore very much. I always see a spark of novelty in him and for that I regard him on high esteem,” said Hari Om. Dr Jitender Singh, renowned Diabetologist and Dr Agnishekhar shared their personnel acquaintance with Vikram as an artist as well as the journalist. Ramesh Sabharwal, JKPF convenor, also congratulated Sharma for his achievement and hoped that he would continue to perform well in days to come. Later, the dignitaries presented a citation and a shawl to Vikram Sharma. In his address, Vikram thanked JKPF and the entire panels for honouring him and assured to carry his endeavours in more inclusive way. Ravinder Raina, secretary spokesman of the forum conducted the proceedings of the function.
