| Every hamlet to be electrified under BNP: Jora | | | Srinagar, October 11 –Asserting that the government is committed to provide electricity facility to all the left-out villages and hamlets of the state under Bharat Nirman Programme, Minister for Power Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that the funds for this purpose would be arranged under Rajiv Gandhi Vidyut Karan Scheme. Mr. Jora said this while reviewing the power scenario of Sangrama and Beerwah constituencies here today. The meeting was attended by Mr. Shoaib lone and Mr. Sarfaraz Khan legislators representing these constituencies. Addressing the meeting, the Minister said that various steps have been taken to upgrade the existing power infrastructure in the state with liberal financial assistance from the centre. He said that under Bharat Nirman Programme all un-electrified villages of two districts each of Kashmir and Jammu provinces would be covered in the first phase. The Minister directed the Chief Engineers to ensure punctuality of field staff in their respective areas and remove the damaged transformers, rotten electric polls and other damaged allied appliances. He also stressed for checking the power pilferage. The meeting was informed that 67 new higher capacity transformers have been installed last year and 55 more transformers would be installed in Beerwah constituency by March next. The meeting was informed that receiving station Khag would be commissioned by the mid of December this year while HT, LT, lines measuring 30 Kms have been repaired so far in the same constituency. Responding to the demands put forth by the legislators, the Minister said that receiving station Wagoora would be augmented under APDRP-II next fiscal year. Regarding establishment of Saloosa receiving station, Mr. Jora directed the concerned authorities to come up with feasibility report so that funds are arranged for the purpose. Among others, Chief Engineer, M&RE Mr. Nissar Hussain Chief Engineer, System operator Mr. Abdul Rashid Guru and Superintending Engineers of the concerned areas attended the meeting.
