| Cultural Academy mourns Shafi’s death | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Feb 18
Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of noted Kashmiri poet and writer Shafi Shaida who passed away during the intervening night of February 17 and 18 at Srinagar.
To mourn the demise of Shafi Shaida, condolence meetings were held at various offices of the Academy across the state in which the services of Shafi Shaida for the promotion and development of Kashmiri Language and literature were remembered.
The condolence meeting held at Academy Secretariat at Jammu under the chairmanship of Secretary, Academy Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, who highlighted close association of Shafi with Cultural Academy.
The condolence meeting held at the headquarters of the Academy, Lal Mandi, Srinagar also remembered his sincere efforts for promotion of Kashmiri Language and literature. Shaida was awarded prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for his Kashmiri book (Amaar). During the condolence meetings, the Academy officials collectively expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
