| Progress under ASHA reviewed at Baramulla | | | Srinagar, October 11 - To improve the health facilities in rural areas by providing proper nutrition, health care, drinking water and proper sanitation “ASHA” programme is being implemented in letter and spirit in Baramulla district. For the purpose, Rs.67 lakh are being spent on implementation of various components including Janani Surksha Yojana and financial assistance during delivery to the women living below poverty line. About Rs.34 lakh have been spent so far. The number of ASHA selected so far has risen to 1071 out of whom 267 ASHA have been trained. This was stated during the governing body meeting of District Rural Health Society Baramulla convened at Baramulla by Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Baseer Ahmed Khan. The Deputy Commissioner directed Health, ICDS and other related agencies to ensure that the trained ASHA are in place and concerted efforts are made to ensure generation of awareness about health nutrition, safe drinking water and total sanitation. Besides all pregnant mothers, children and community at large are provided health care. He asked Chief Medical Officer to get Rogi Kalyan Simiti registered and also Programme Officer ICDS to ensure providing all facilities to Health Department in implementation of the programme.
