| Sham reviews NRHM, stresses achieving targets | | |

Minister for Health Sham Lal Sharma reviewed the overall functioning of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), a Centrally Sponsored Scheme, at a high level meeting of officers held here today. Minister stressed upon the officers to implement this flagship programme in letter and spirit and make strenuous efforts to achieve targets. He said that NRHM is aimed at improving the rural healthcare system and everyone associated with this prestigious mission should work hard so that its benefits percolate down to the needy. To clear various bottlenecks in the implementation, Sham Lal asked for ensuring close coordination between the officers. ] He asked the Director, NRHM to strengthen the monitoring mechanism and make everyone accountable. Director Family Welfare and NRHM, Dr Kulbushan Pandotra, gave a power point presentation about the implementation of the programme. He said that due to some technicalities, the programme suffered some set back at the initial stage, but during the past couple of years, remarkable achievements have been registered and has now picked up substantially. Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Dr R.K.Jerath, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Jasbir Singh, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr MA Wani and other officers of the Health Department were present in the meeting.
