| Slathia lays foundation of 20 Cr JK Cement Plant | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT SAMBA, Feb 19
Minister for Industries and Commerce, SS Slathia laid foundation stone of Rs 20 crore Grinding-cum-packing plant of JK Cements Ltd. Here today. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma. The Plant, spread over 20 kanals of land, on its completion in 16 months, will have the capacity of producing 300 Tonnes Per Day (TPD). Addressing the gathering, Slathia said the plant will on the one hand generate employment, for the unemployed educated youth of the state in general and Samba in particular, and on the other hand, it will meet the increasing demand of cement for construction of development works and other private projects. Expressing satisfaction on the devotion and hard work of the workers, he said that the government will provide all facilities to the employees of the Corporation and solve their problems. He said services of Kashmiri migrant employees, putting up in Jammu would also be utilized in the plant. He said that being the only profitable public undertaking, its employees have been extended the benefits of 6th Pay Commission and hoped the employees will continue to work with same zeal and devotion. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma complimented the management and employees for conceiving this project which shows their commitment for hard work and at the same time assured that implementation of recently issued Government order for release of COLA will be considered in due course of time, after taking into confidence the members of the Association of employees. Director Industries and Commerce Jammu, Heads of various Departments, management and workers besides a large number of people were present on the occasion.
