| Chib inaugurates Mohinder Singh Hockey Tournament | | | Early Times Report Jammu, February 19–The Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R. S. Chib has urged the youth to participate in sports activities in a big way, to remain physically fit and mentally sound.
The Minister was speaking at the 1st Mohinder Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament at Kehli Mandi, Samba today. The seven day Hockey Tournament was organized by Rajput Hockey Club, Samba.
He said that sports activities are imperative for over all development of personality. He said that the Government is endeavouring to provide better sports infrastructure for youth in the rural as well as urban areas of the State to exploit their talent. He said sports stadia are being constructed at district and block levels to provide necessary facilities to the youth. He asked the youth of rural areas to come forward and participate in various games including Cricket and Hockey and bring laurels to the State. The Minister said Hockey is the most popular game of Samba area where from 7 hockey players were sent to Lahore prior to 1974.
The Minister announced Rs. 5 lakh for the development of the play ground at Kehli Mandi, Samba.
