| High Court directs state government to arrange funds for quake victims | | | Srinagar, October 11 - The division bench of J&K High Court has directed the state government to arrange required funds of Rs.113 crore for disbursing 2nd and 3rd installment of compensation to earthquake survivals. The bench comprising Chief Justice, Justice B. A. Khan and Justice Bashir Ahmed Kirmani observes that since the State Government has already taken up the matter of release of required amount with the Central Government, the direction to the concerned Ministries of the Government of India, including the Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Finance, is reiterated and it is expected that second and third installments out of the funds committed by the Central Government shall be released at the earliest for its reimbursement before the on-set of winter. Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir and the two Deputy Commissioners of Baramulla and Kupwara are directed to expedite release of second and third installments in accordance with the Government’s policy and complete this process before 20th December 2006. |
