| Amnesty for Kashmiri militants | | JKNPP seeks PM’s intervention, calls for all party meet | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 20: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNP) has shot off a letter to the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh seeking his immediate intervention on latest “doctrine” of the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram to facilitate the return of Kashmiri militants. In a letter, the Panthers Party Chairman, Bhim Singh has urged the Prime Minister to convene an all-party meeting including the representatives of all parties from Jammu and Kashmir for an open discussion on the subject. The Panthers Party Chief stated in his letter that the National Conference government dispatched nearly 10000 boys during its rule in 1988-1990 to Pakistan occupied Kashmir. “The National Conference managed to bring back nearly 2000 trained boys and successfully persuaded Government of India to recruit some of them in the CRPF and BSF. The results are obvious and un-record. The government during the past one year has again dispatched nearly 3000 boys from Bani block (Kathua), Doda district and even from Mahore and Gool to Pakistan,” he said. Bhim Singh said, “The National Conference has two purposes in this regard, the National Conference wants to rehabilitate their boys at the cost of other innocent and nationalists used and secondly, NC wants to hijack the Hurriyat agenda in the name of return and rehabilitation of the militants.” In his letter, the JKNPP leader said that the Union Home Minister is unaware of the ground realities existing in Jammu and Kashmir and he has not been able to make full application of his mind due to the fact that he is influenced by the father-son duo. The leader said that Indo-Pak dialogue cannot bring peace unless the leadership on both sides takes up the issue of LoC without any hesitation. “LoC is the real and only problem vis-à-vis Jammu and Kashmir which needs to be settled through dialogue,” he suggested. He also referred the yesterday’s statement of the Army Chief, General Deepak Kapoor indirectly warning the Union Home Minister on his “misadventures” approach on the return and rehabilitation of the terrorists from Pakistan. Bhim Singh also urged the Prime Minister to take the J&K Affairs in his own hands in the interest of harmony and peace in the State.
