| Chief Secretary visits Dal, takes stock of conservation measures | | |
Srinagar, October 11 - To take stock of measures being carried out by Lakes and Water Ways Development Authority (LAWDA) for conservation of world famous Dal lake, Chief Secretary Mr. C. Phunsog today conducted an extensive tour of Dal and its adjoining areas.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Anil Goswami, Divisional Commissioner, Mr. Basharat Ahmed and IGP Kashmir, Mr. S.M. Sahai were accompanying the Chief Secretary.
During his tour SC visited areas adjacent to Dal including Nehru Park, Habback, Dargah, Nishaat and Rainawari. The team visited silting basin of the fore shore of the lake and also took stock of sewerage treatment plant at Lam, Habak and Hazratbal.
The Chief Secretary went deep inside the lake and witnessed the removal of weeds manually and drudging process being carried out on both north and western fore shore. The Chief Secretary impressed upon Vice Chairperson to complete the re-alignment process of houseboats and on going development works in a stipulated time so that the pristine glory of the Dal lake is restored. |
