PDD generates Rs 222 cr power tariff in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Feb 20: Power Development Department has collected revenue of Rs. 222 crore of power tariff from the consumers of Kashmir province against the current financial year’s target of Rs 402 crore upto February 18.
This was stated at a high level meeting, convened by Minister of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan to review the revenue realization of power tariff in Kashmir province here today.
Power Development Comioner, Asgar Ali Majaz, Special Secretary PDD, Altaf Hussain Indrabi, Chief Engineer M&RE Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of all electric divisions attended the meeting
While reviewing circle wise realization it was told that Ladakh Electric Division has not only completed the collection target of Rs. 6.92 crore but exceeded it by Rs. 54 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister asked the officers and field staff of PDD to expedite the revenue collection to meet set targets. He directed the concerned higher authorities to monitor the collections of power tariff on weekly basis and ensure realization of all outstanding dues from the consumers including the government departments and corporations before current fiscal end.
The Minister set March end as dead line for realization of pending tariff in all the districts. He said strict action would be taken against those officers and officials who show any laxity in this regard.
Shabir directed the concerned authorities for checking of power pilferage, adding that the services of special mobile teams should be intensified to check the menace of illegal power connections and misuse energy beyond the limit set in agreement, especially in business establishments like hotels, industrial units and shopping malls.
The Minister called upon the people to cooperate with the functionaries of the department and pay their power tariff well in time. He said it would help the government in maintaining scheduled power supply.
