FM inaugurates Langate Treasury
Coalition believes in action, not in hollow slogans: Rather

LANGATE, Feb 20: Describing service to people as goal of the coalition government, Finance Minister, Abdul Rahim Rather has said that the government during its 13 months in power has taken historical steps for the benefit of the people adding that the process will continue further.
Addressing a largely attended public meeting after inaugurating new treasury at Langate here today, Rather said that Human Rights Violations will in no case be tolerated saying that those involved in the killing of Zahid Farooq of Brein, Nishat were arrested in a record time and would be punished as per law.
Rather said that the coalition government believes in action and not in hollow slogans. He said any excess reported from anywhere would be investigated in a transparent manner government is fully aware of their responsibilities and fulfilling these, he said adding that, however, some vested interests are out to disrupt peace in the state.
Rather described autonomy as the best formula for settling the Kashmir issue and said people of the state would get more powers and could live a dignified life.
The Finance Minister advised the government employees to desist from hartals as it increases difficulties for the common people saying that all the problems could be solved amicably. He, however, said “I am waiting for the day when employees will unite against corruption in the state”.
Regarding development of district Kupwara, Rather said the Tourism Development Authority for Lolab and Bangus valleys have already been constituted to develop these areas as tourist spots. Regarding new blocks for Langate constituency, Rather said that a committee has been constituted who will submit report soon.
MLA, Langate, Abdul Rashid while addressing the gathering appreciated the surrender policy initiated by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Wali Mohammad Aseer and District Development Comioner, Kupwara and Showkat Ahmad Mir were also present on the occasion.
