Non-performing Principals to face action: Peerzada

JAMMU, Feb 20: The State Education Department today said that it would initiate strict action against the Principals of Secondary and Higher Secondary schools for their poor performance in different board level examinations.
Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, while reviewing the performance of educational institutions during the secondary and higher secondary board examinations and rationalization of staff in Jammu city here, emphasized on bringing in transparency and accountability in education sector besides strictly adhering to the guidelines framed for streamlining the school education in the State.
Secretary Education, G.A. Peer, Director School Education Jammu, Zahida Khan, Additional Secretary Education Arif-Ullah, Joint Director School Education and Chief Education Officer Jammu besides Principals of various educational institutions of Jammu city attended the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stressed upon the teaching community to work with ionary spirit and proper coordination to improve the quality and reach of education as it is the key to all round development of a person, adding that any investment made for the development of students is an investment in future.
Peerzada asked the teachers to serve as catalyst for bringing about efficacious students and in flourishing the education sector in the State.
Taking strong note of the poor performance of certain institutions of Jammu city in Secondary and higher secondary level board examination, the Minister cautioned that strict action will be taken against the Principals of the poor performing institutions. Peerzada also stressed for regularity and punctuality of teachers in education institutions and directed the Principals to intensify the inspections of the feeding schools.
