| Jora visits Sidhra, reviews progress on golf course | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 20: Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora today visited Sidhra Golf Course to review the pace of work on the project. The Minister went round the Golf Course and gave on the spot instructions to ensure timely completion of the work on the Golf Course. He emphasized that no encroachment and construction should be allowed in the surrounding of the Golf Course to maintain aesthetic beauty and to create good ambience at the venue. He said Divisional Comioner, Jammu as the head of the Task Force would sort out further land acquisition for the course. He asked the executing agency to immediately prepare the DPRs for the final phase of the Golf Course, which will have cycling track, walking track, horse riding track on Tawi River Bed, club house with world class lodging and boarding facilities, water bodies with fish pond and boating facilities so that it can become one of the leading resorts of Jammu. The Minister said that the school children would be invited for plantation drive in and around the Golf Course besides making them aware and developing their interest in the Golf sports so that in future they can use this facility at Jammu. He asked the executing agency to properly maintain the sprinkler system, green and fairways of 9-Hole Golf Course, besides completion of earthwork, pitching works, water tanks and construction of pre-fabricated Club House. Jora re-iterated the Government’s commitment to develop and upgrade World Class Tourist infrastructure in the State and to provide adequate facilities to visiting tourists, State’s professional and budding golfers. Among others, Secretary Tourism, Tanveer Jehan, Director Tourism, Jammu, S.M. Sahni, Golf Consultant, Col. Bagga, Land scrapping expert, Mohammad Amin and other officers of the department accompanied the Minister.
