| ‘Guru Shiksha Niketan Higher secondary school celebrates annual day | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, FEBRUARY 20- Guru Shiksha Niketan Higher secondary school today celebrated annual day cum prize distribution function held in the school premises . Making a mention of the traditional ‘Guru Shiksha Parampara’ Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla, chief guest on the occasion today urged the students to carry forward this glorious legacy to achieve success in their careers and to become proud citizens of this great nation. Director of Information Khawaja Farooq Renzu presided over the function while Chairman Board of School Education Dr. Deshbandhu and former Director AIR, Mr. Jatiender Udhampuri were guests of honour. The function begins with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest on the occasion followed by Saraswanti Vandana and annual report read out by the Principal of the school, Rameshwar Mengi. Speaking on the occasion Bhalla said that such types of programmes encourage students by polishing their hidden talent besides providing an opportunity to the school management to highlight their academic and other extra co-curricular activities. He appealed the students to take part in extra co-curricular activities besides their academic education. Bhalla exhorted upon the parents and teachers to put in their sincere and dedicated efforts in shaping the personalities of children so that they could become good citizens besides compete globally in this competitive world. He said that the Coalition Government was making tireless efforts to eradicate illiteracy by opening and upgrading thousands of schools all over the State. He said that thrust of the Government is on providing all infrastructural facilities in remote and far-off areas of the State at par with Urban schools.
