| Days hot in Kashmir | | | Early Times report Srinagar, Feb 20 : Summer like weather conditions prevailed in the Kashmir valley where the night remained cold as the minimum temperature was minus 2.2 degrees, about one degree below normal. Border town Kargil was the coldest in the region after the minimum dipped to minus 16.4 degrees this morning. Summer like weather prevailed in the summer capital, Srinagar, and other areas in the Kashmir valley today with bright sun shine though the sky remained cloudy in between. The 20-day Chalai Khurd, which began after 40-day-long Chalai Kalan, the coldest period of winter in Kashmir, ended last evening. The ten-day chalai Bacha started from today to end on March 2nd. With the end of all challas, summer will knock the doors in the Kashmir valley, where farming season will start in the first week March. The maximum was again several degree above normal as the weather office here has forecasted dry weather during the next 24 hours. However, the night remained cold after the minimum temperature was recorded minus 2.2 degrees this morning, 1.2 degrees below normal.
