| Rs. 1.21 cr being spent on 4 model villages in Sgr: Jugal | | | Srinagar, October 11 – Four villages are being developed as model village in Srinagar district comprising five community blocks and 70 Panchayat Halqas with 2.54 lakh rural population. Against an allocation of Rs. 1.21 crore for 2006-07, Rs. 39 lakh have been expended on various development activities in these model villages so far, while other development works are in full swing. This was stated at a Rural Development conference held here yesterday. Minister for Rural Development and Panchyats Mr. Jugal Kishore presided over the conference which was attended by functionaries of Rural Development department besides its Secretary and Director. It was given at that under Prime Minister’s Gram Sadak Yojana, five road projects have been taken up at a cost of Rs. 1.74 crore in Srinagar district against which Rs. 61 lakh have been utilized so far this fiscal year. Similarly, under Haryali project, Rs. 3.12 crore are being spent in the district. Speaking at the conference, the Minister said that the Rural Development is meant for the development of rural areas, as such, the functionaries of the department have to put in their best to change the development scenario in these areas. He called upon the officers to ensure completion of on-going works within the stipulated time saying that 80 percent works should be completed before November. He said he would be personally monitoring the development works in the state. |
