| Implement Parliament resolution on PoK: JKPF | | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 21: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Forum (JKPF) today asked the Union Government to implement its resolution unanimously passed by the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994 for getting back the area of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by Pakistan. Talking to media persons here, Ramesh Sabharwal, convenor JKPF said, “Sixteen years have passed but we have neither got vacated the occupied territory nor crushed the terrorist activities being pursued from the soil of neighbouring country resulting in loss of numerous innocent lives and security force personnel.” The leader further said, “Ignoring their failure on these counts, the Central and State Governments are toeing with the idea of giving amnesty to the Kashmiri militants held up in PoK. The Centre rather should snub all such proposals at their infancy stage.” Describing the move of return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri militants as “unwanted,” “undesired” and “unrealistic”, Sabharwal said, “There are reports that the militant camps are still intact in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Despite the fact, the proposal of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is quite inexplicable.” “The nationalist forces in the State fail to understand the logic in such a move at a time when the terrorist are still present in large number within the State and are engaged in subversive and terrorist activities. The hasty steps in this direction would prove counterproductive and the surrendered militants would only serve as moles in the society to further the nefarious designs of the enemy country,” he observed. He said that the forum has sounded the awakening bell for the government on 16th anniversary of the Parliament resolution for taking appropriate steps for its implementation and warned not to go ahead with “ill-conceived” proposal of surrender policy.
