Workshop on ‘Development of Self Learning Material’ concludes

JAMMU, Feb 21
A two-day workshop on the topic “Development of Self Learning Material” organized by Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), University of Jammu, concluded here today.
In the valedictory function, Chairman Jammu Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) Prof Deshbandu Gupta, was the chief guest.
In his valedictory address, he highlighted the importance of Self Learning Material (SLM) for distance learners as he himself has had a vast experience in the distance education system.
He laid stress on the importance of training and guidance to lesson writers.
Director DDE Dr Meenakshi Kilam while addressing the participants apprised that the process of the training of the in-house faculty and teachers from PG departments of the University and affiliated colleges has been taken up on priority by the directorate in order to improve the content and quality of study material provided to Distance learners.


In the morning session of second day participants made group presentations on development of SLM while in the second technical session Prof CRK Murthy explained how the unit is developed and how we can present the content in an organised manner.
In the afternoon technical session Dr Ashok Gaba gave his research analysis on the respondents’ reply to the use of various activities given to them in text questions and multiple choices.
Prof CRK Murthy and Dr Ashok Gaba from Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi were the resource persons while Dr Anupama Vohra acted as workshop coordinator.
The feed back about the workshop was given by Dr Monica Sethi, Mansi Sharma, Bodh Raj and Dr Asha Kichloo.
The participants, who were given certificates by the chief guest, observed that they have gained a lot from the workshop.
A total number of 50 participants from the different disciplines of Post-Graduate departments of University of Jammu and affiliated colleges attended the workshop.
Joint Director DDE Jai Kumar Sharma, Prof Jasbir Singh, Prof VD Singh, Dr Dharminder Mangotra were also present on the occasion.
