| PDP seeks dumping of essential commodities in snow-bound areas | | | Srinagar, Oct 11 ): District and Divisional Administration has been asked to speed up its efforts for timely dumping of essential commodities in far-flung, remote and snow-bound areas including Machiel, Keran and Karnah of hilly district Kupwara in North Kashmir before the winter sets in. The resolution passed at a day-long PDP party convention held at Kupwara today it was also desired that a part from streamlining the public distribution system of essential commodities in all the blocks of the district, an effective campaign need to be intensified to check the profiteering and hoarding of food-grains besides K. oil and sugar. The party convention chaired by General Secretary PDP and MLC Nizam-ud-Din Bhat was also addressed by senior PDP leader and district president Advocate Abdul Haq and Political Secretary to Party President Peerzada Mansoor Hussain besides almost all the zonal presidents of the district. The party affairs including membership process and political and development scenario in the district came into discussion. In his address Bhat highlighted broader contours of Self-Rule formula saying that this proposal would be acceptable to the people of Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu regions as it has ample provision to accommodate aspirations of the people of all regions and sub-regions including those which are geographically disadvantages and backward. He sought massive support for the said proposal adding that people are the main beneficiaries of such ambitious and comprehensive plans. The Political Secretary Peerzada Mansoor enumerated the progress registered in the Kupwara district during the last four years of coalition government. He urged upon the authorities to speed up the efforts by way of dovetailing them for timely completion of execution of development works taken up in the district. He made special reference for early completion of some vital trunk and link routes of the district. The senior PDP leader and district president Advocate Abdul Haq also addressed the gathering which had assembled from almost all Deh Committee constituted by district organization of the party. |
