| Govt to enhance Anganwari workers, helpers’ honorarium: Sakina | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 21: The Government would enhance the monthly honorarium of Anganwari workers and Helpers to the tune of Rs 2100 and Rs 1200, respectively.
This was announced by Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Ittoo after distributing cheques amounting to Rs 5.94 lakh among 267 beneficiaries as financial assistance under various welfare schemes at Kalakote. These include Rs. 1.72 lakh, as pre-matric and post-matric scholarships among 165 students belonging to Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe and Other Backward Classes and Rs. 2.37 lakh as pension among 102 beneficiaries under National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS), Physical Handicapped and Militancy victims. Earlier, the Minister laid the foundation of Gujjar Hostel at Kalakote, Rajouri. The project would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 2.97 crore and would cater to the requirements of Gujjar and Bakerwal youth of Kalakote Tehsil. The proposed hostel would have 36 rooms, toilet, kitchen and other allied facilities of boarding and lodging and would be completed within one year. The Minister also addressed an ex-servicemen rally at Kalakote and assured them that their demands would be looked into sympathetically. She asked the widows of ex-servicemen to come forward and avail the benefits of various schemes of the department, exclusively launched for their welfare. Sakina said that focus was being laid on the overall development of Rajouri district, adding that various projects have been launched in this direction. Referring to opening of new counters of J&K Bank for the old age pensioners, she said that these would remain open on Saturdays and Sundays to facilitate the beneficiaries. She said that the Government was opening 3025 more Anganwari Centres to cover the left out villages. Later, Vice Chairman, Kisan Board, Rashpal Singh announced Rs. 5 lakh for construction of ex-servicemen office, out of his Constituency Development Fund at Kalakote. Vice-Chairman Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board, Choudhery Bashir Ahmad Naaz, also spoke on the occasion.
