| Udhampur Feb 22:Under the aegis of Brigadier RS Langeh, VSM, Director Sainik Welfare Department, Lt Col Man Singh Jamwal, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer, Udhampur alongwith Ex-Sub Jagdev Singh Chib, Welfare Organiser visited Talwara Army Camp in connection with Ex-servicemen Rally on 21 Feb 2010. A large Number of Ex-servicemen/Widows from far flung areas were present on the occasion.
Col Jamwal spoke on various concessions and welfare schemes extended by the Central/State Govt for the welfare of ESM/Widows. He appraised ESM and widows the importance of Joint Notification for family pension and publication of Part II Orders. He informed about Prime Minister Scholarship schemes for the wards of Ex-servicemen /Widows, Daughter’s marriage grant, Demise Grant, ADLR Scheme, Relief to Ex-J&K Militia personnel who have discharged at their own request/on medical grounds and to non-pensioners. He also stressed to become members of ECHS under which complete medical cover is provided to the pensioners as well as dependents.
While speaking on the occasion Col Jamwal assured the Ex-servicemen/Widows of the area to provide every possible help to them.
A medical camp and CSD canteen stalls were established by the Army at the camp site. Free medicines were also distributed and several tests of patients were carried out by the medical team. A lunch was also provided by the Army to all Ex-servicemen/Widows. Ex-servicemen and widows were very grateful to Brig RS Langeh, VSM, Director and Lt Col MS Jamwal, Welfare Officer, Udhampur for holding such an eventful rally. They also thanked the local Army Unit for providing them CSD and medical facilities. Local Army Unit provided relief to six widows during the rally.
