| Prof Mishra of JU invited to Mongolia for third time | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, February 22: Head of the Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Jammu, Prof RK Mishra has been selected for the Council Chair, as Visiting Professor of Sanskrit and Buddhist Studies at National University of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar for a period of four months starting from March.
This will be Prof Mishra’s third visit to as visiting faculty to Mongolia on the recommendation of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Government of India.
Prof Mishra has been selected for the task because of his diversified specialization in different branches of Sanskrit, Indian Philosophy, Philosophy and Buddhist Sanskrit Text Studies. He is very useful for our Department and the University, a letter written by National University of Mongolia School of Social Sciences to Director General ICCR mentioned.
The letter further mentioned that the cultural relations between India and Mongolia have been greatly strengthened due to missionary zeal and zest of Prof Mishra for teaching Sanskrit and Indian wisdom and culture.
A product of Banaras Hindu Univerity, Prof Mishra later taught at the same University besides remained as HOD at Gadwal University, Uttranchal. A senior Professor at the Department of Buddhist Studies, University of Jammu, Prof Mishra continued to head the department for 19 years.
It is pertinent to mention here that he recently returned from Hungry where he was invited to attend a conference after his name was selected from and among the top scholars of the country by ICCR.
