| Bifurcation of JKBOSE demanded | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 22 To discuss the issues to be focused in the ongoing assembly session here, the Jammu Jammu Private Schools & ETT Institutes Association (Progressive) held a meeting under the chairmanship of its President Deep Singh, here on Sunday.
Reiterating its demand, the members of the association stressed upon the bifurcation of the present “J&K State Board of School Education (JKBOSE)” in view of geographical compulsions and the prevailing technical difficulties being faced by nearly three lakh students of the two provinces. It was further demanded that before passing the proposed amendments in the Board Act, suggestions be sought from the experts and even from the common man.
During the meeting, the members remembered that after the veteran leader late Jb. Ghulam Mohd. Sadiq, it was the regime of late Sher-e-Kashmir, Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah who retained the education portfolio with him as Chief Minister which was based on their visionary approach. Giving an example in the context is the “Board Act, 1975” where powers of the government were minimized to a logical extent in order to provide the autonomous status of present “J&K State Board of School Education” and to maintain a distance from the politicians/rulers.
On the other hand, no Chief Minister ever cared about the sanctity of this noble cause and just ignored the related sensitive issues like framing of the Rules related to the Board Act 1975 till date which is sufficient to access the seriousness of our civil society and the so-called political leadership. Sher-e- Kashmir’s grandson Mr Omar Abdullah, the present Chief Minister of the state who after a feed back during the last year while taking the issue in a very casual way, referred the matter to incredible & self centered personalities for preparing a draft of the required amendments in the present Board Act. As a follow up committees comprising of the defunct retired officers of the JK Board were set up for proposals based discussions in both Srinagar & Jammu and as per information the draft for amendments is ready to be tabled in the current assembly session, the association stated.
In view of the constant and suspicious interference of the ministry into the JK Board’s routine work, the association appealed the Chief Minister, leader of the opposition and all other honourable legislatures of all the political parties for a serious and visionary approach while proceeding for any education related legislation as a tribute to the dreams of Sadiq and the Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah.
Among others who attended the meeting were Dr. G.S. Charak (Patron), KK Rao (Sr. Vice-President), S.K.Gupta (Gen. secretary) and GT Singh.
