| Students resorted to stone pelting on 17th day of protest | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 22: 17th consecutive protest demonstrations launched by Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF) was witnessed in City Colleges and in the college outside city including GGM Science College, SPMR College of Commerce, Govt. Degree College Paloura, GCW Parade and GGM Evening College for the demand of concession in syllabus for the three year Degree Course.
Earlier in GGM Science College, the students were very angry after two days ultimatum who held protest under leadership of Sahil Choudhary (President, GGM Science College) and Abhay Sharma (Vice President, GGM Science College). The angry students boycotted their classes and came on roads and blocked the traffic for more than one and half hours where police force tried to move on the traffic normally. But the students were not agreed to vacate from road. Students of SPMR College of Commerce boycotted the classes under the leadership of Kulbinder Singh (President, SPMR College) and Aman Sharma (Vice President, SPMR College). The students refused to sit in internal assessment test. College authorities tried to pressurize the agitating students to give internal assessment test. Because of the warning given to Commerce College students by the concerned authorities, students lost their temper and started destructive movement. The commerce college students further continued the protest destructively and joined the agitating students of GGM Science College who were sitting on the road. On this situation there occur a minor clash between agitating students and police force (JKP and CRPF) and students starts throwing stones on police force. Wile some JJSF leaders control this violent situation soon. In GCW Parade, the girls students also continue the protest under the leadership of Vinakshi Sharma (President, GCW Parade). The girls’ students boycotted their classes and gathered at the college ground. but the college administration have locked the main gate in order to stop the students but agitating students forcibly broke the lock and came out in form of rally. The rally moved from Dogra Hall and marched towards Parade Chowk via Kachi Chowni Chowk. Where the students blocked the road and sat there for about more than one and half hours. On this occasion, the police force tried to disperse the protest forcibly. So there occur a clash between police person and the girls JJSF leaders.
