| Pandemonium , noisy scenes prevail day 1 | | BJP, JKNPP boycott Governor’s address | | Early Times Report Jammu Feb 22: On the first day Budget session of state Assembly, the entire Opposition today exhibited somewhat semblance in action, if not unity when they disrupted the address of J&K Governor NN Vohra to the joint Legislature in the Central Hall of Legislative Complex today. Even as the issues they raised were different , PDP, BJP and J&K Nationalist Panthers Party members raised slogans in the Hall, almost in tandem, as a result of which pandemonium and nosiy scenes prevailed in the House for nearly 15 minutes. The Governor, amidst din and clamour, however continued reading his address to the Legislature.
In fact minutes before the Governor arrived inside the Central Hall, the three members of the Panthers Party led by Harsh Dev Singh entered the Hall raising the slogans against coalition government. The members of this party raised the slogans in support of the issues of Jammu and demanded dismissal of the coalition government in the state.”Ghatbandan Sarkar Ko Barkhast Karo…….Aatankvadi Sarkar Ko Barkhast Karo…..Jammu Virodhi Sarkar Ko Hata Do….(Dismiss the government which is anti Jammu and supportive of the policies favoring militants)….”, were the slogans raised by the Panthers Party.
Soon after the Governor entered the Hall,PDP led by Mehbooba Mufti and BJP led by Prof Chaman Lal Gupta also joined the chorus of slogans vehemently demanding dismissal of the coalition regime. While BJP raised the Jammu centric issues like Delimitation, sogans against Justice Sgahir Ahmad report, rampant corruption, the PDP quite apparently tried to take on the government on a different footing-the issue of human rights violations in Kashmir valley.”Katilon Ko Paesh Karo………Kashmiri Bacchon Ka Khoon Baha Rahi Hai Yeh Sarkar……(identify the killers….this government is allowing the bloodshed of innocent youth in valley)……..Mehbooba Mufti said in a high pitched voice followed by the sloganeering by her members.
At one point of time when there was absolute pandemonium and din in the Hall, it seemed the entire opposition staged ‘joint’ protest against the government, raising slogans almost in an unequivocal manner, albeit raking up different issues. The din continued for nearly 15 minutes amidst which the Governor continued his address. All the members got up on their seats and were up against the policies of the government, echoeing concern over what they said the total failure of the government to deliver on all fronts. While BJP members staged walkout after some time, Panthers Party members followed the suit. However, PDP members continued to express their resentment and anger by sloganeering and sat on their seats quietly after few minutes. It is pertinent to mention that along with these opposition parties, the independent member from Bishnah Ashwani Kumar also joined the chorus of protests and raised slogans in support of Jammu centric issues.
Later the BJP submitted a memorandum seeking attention of the Governor on what they said denying the Delimitation of Assembly Constituencies.”The prolonging of injustice has given feelings in Jammu region that they have been subjugated under the regional and
communal considerations”, the BJP members alleged. To rectify the feelings there is need for unity of the state and equal empowerment of all the three regions without further delay, the BJP memorandum said asserting that Delimitation of the constituencies was necessary.
