JMF to hold protest on Feb 25

JAMMU, Feb 23

Jammu Migrant Front (JMF) is going to hold a protest in support of its demands on February 25.
Addressing media persons here today, Front President Mohammad Aslam Kohli informed that JMF activists would assemble at Press Club of Jammu on Febraury 25 in order to march towards Civil Secretariat for assembly gherao.
Highlighting various issues, Kohli demanded provision of Prime Minister’s package, treatment of Jammu migrants at par with Kashmir migrants, reservation in educational institutions and government jobs along with release of pending claims with effect from 1990 till date in favour of Jammu migrants, compensation of movable and immovable properties left by Jammu migrants.
Besides this the president also highlighted the discrimination meted at the hands of the state government to Jammuites with special reference to Jammu migrants at all levels.
Kohli criticized the administration for imposing restrictions under Section 144 Cr PC which is a clear indication of suppressing the public sentiments to raise their concerns and voice against the government which is contrary to the fundamental rights provided by the constitution.
He urged the divisional administration to allow the region’s migrants to come to Jammu to participate in a peaceful demonstration being organized here on February 25.
Kohli appealed Jammu migrants from different parts of this province to participate in large number in the proposed protest to make the demonstration a grand success.
He informed that leaders of JMF are also scheduled to meet Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan on February 24 to present a memorandum of demands to him.
