| Workshop on disaster management held | | | Early Times Report Jammu , Feb 23 A lecture-cum-workshop in collaboration with the Directorate of Home Guards, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police, J & K on "Disaster management" was organized at Govt. Degree College , Bishnah.
The extension lecture is a part of the initiative taken by the directorate of Home guards, Civils Defence and Auxiliary police, J & K to spread awareness among the masses, particularly in students to cope up with the situation arising out of natural disasters.
The resource person Khalil-ul-Rehman, Deputy controller, Directorate of Home Gaurds, Civil Defence and Auxiliary Police J &K elaborated the concept of disaster and its management with special reference to role of community at time of disaster. He highlighted the nuances connected with the disaster management programme .
Others who made valuable contribution to the lecture were Dr. Rakesh Anand who told the students as how they can save precious lives, Sh. Ram Chand defined various types of fire and different measures to control it and Mr. Sudershan Singh dwelt on the use of fire extinguishers.
Earlier, Prof. Veena Pandita, Principal of the college while welcoming the guests elaborated the concept of disaster management and its need in the modern times. She also appreciated the efforts being made by Directorate of Civil Defence to make to concept popular among masses especially youth
