| Husband has STD: Woman approaches police for justice | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24:
The mother of a seven-month-old girl child approached Women Police Cell here Tuesday evening with an alleged complaint that her husband had a sexually transmitted disease (STD) about which she was kept in dark by her in-laws.
The woman, whom police identified as Sita Devi, came to the Women Cell late last evening with an alleged complaint that her husband suffered from a venereal disease even before their marriage.
She said as her husband would not live a long life and his early end looked imminent, she wanted share of his property from her in-laws to support her and her baby for the rest of their life.
In her complaint, she also alleged that her in-laws started harassing her after she had come to know about her husband's disease.
Acting on the complaint, women cops summoned her mother-in-law Latta Devi (55) of Talab Tillo and sister-in-law Meenakshi (25) to the Women Cell. Sources said they were allegedly roughed up in the cell and had to be later admitted to the GMC Hospital for the treatment of the bruises they had sustained.
When contacted, the cell police, however, claimed that the two women had created a scene in the cell and had hurt each other to escape police questioning. Police said Sita's in-laws would again be called to the cell for settling the issue.
