| Pak bullet hurts BSF cop | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24:
Apart from violating ceasefire on the International Border (IB) to facilitate infiltration, the Pak Rangers this morning fired a shot at a BSF cop near Katau Post in Samba sector,
causing him a serious injury.
In another incident in Samba's Bain Galad forward area, 30 mt barbed-wire fencing was blown up in at least two powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blasts.
Official sources said the Rangers violated ceasefire when they fired shots targetting Katau border outpost at about 5.30 am. Fire was returned. The intermittent exchange of fire between the two sides continued till 6 am, the sources added.
Sources said Pakistan tried to push militants into the Indian territory under the cover of fire, but the alert BSF jawans foiled their attempt.
A suspicious movement was also noticed by the BSF men, but when the latter opened fire in retaliation, the suspected militants retreated, the sources added.
The vigil was enhanced all along the IB after the ceasefire violation by Pakistan.
Sources said when, as part of the enhanced vigil, BSF cop Krishan Chand Yadav was patrolling along the fencing in Katau outpost area at about 7.15 am, a bullet came flying from across the IB and hit him in the left shoulder.
Bleeding profusely, he was shifted by BSF men to a BSF hospital at Samba from where he was referred to the GMC Hospital here for advanced treatment. His condition was stated to be stable by the doctors attending on him.
Sources said on Monday last, 30 mt of the border-fencing at Bain Galad in Samba was blown up in at least two powerful IED blasts.
The IEDs were tied to the fencing by the infiltrating militants, who had later fled back to Pakistan, the sources added.
