Govt strive for providing all basic amenities to people: Bhalla

JAMMU, FEB 24- Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla has said that thrust of the Coalition Government is to provide the people all basic amenities like road connectivity, education, health, drinking water, electricity and drainage system.

The Minister was speaking, after laying the various development works at Trikuta Enclave, South Extension in Trikuta Nagar which included laying of water supply pipes at a cost of Rs. 5 lakh, installation of 250 KVA transformers and other works at a cost of Rs. 12 lakh and upgradation of interior lanes and drains at a cost of Rs. 6 lakh.

Mr. Bhalla said that with the installation of transformers and pipes, the drinking water and electricity would be improved in the Trikuta Enclave and its adjoining areas. He asked the officers to complete these within a week’s time for the benefit of the people. He said that the Government has recently commissioned the G-8 feeder to improve the infrastructure of electricity in Channi Rama, Channi Himmat, Channi Kamala, Trikuta Nagar, Sunjwan, and Bathindi areas.

Listing major projects, taken up to upgrade the basic amenities in the Gandhi Nagar constituency, he said that Rs. 14 crore OPD block at Government Gandhi Hospital has been commissioned, Rs. 4 crore approved for construction of community halls in the periphery areas, Rs. 25 crore artificial lake in Niki Tawi, Rs. 150 crore 4th bridge over river Tawi, opening of 10 new higher secondary schools and 22 tube wells have been approved.

For the convenience of Bathindi-Bermani residents, Mr. Bhalla said that 4-kilometer long link road would be completed at a cost of Rs. 233 crore within one year. He asked the executing agency to complete it within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He said that the Government was committed to connect every remote and far-off area with the nearest headquarter by providing road connectivity.

At Azad Nagar in Upper Gaddigarh, the Minister laid foundation stone of 1000 meter long link road, to be constructed at a cost of Rs. 19.28 lakh. He asked the executing agency to complete it by March 2010 for the benefit of the people.

For upgradaing the drinking water facilities in Karan Bagh and adjoining areas, Mr. Bhalla said that the Coalition Government has sanctioned Rs. 4 crore for digging the tube well including laying of pipes in and adjoining areas. He said that the execution work would be completed by March 2010.
