Govt Women College Parade Ashima Mahajan bagged the first prize in the Western Vocal (Solo) singing event held conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the “Display Your Talent” 2009-10, here at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium.
whereas Gurvinder Kour from Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Bhavneet Kour from Govt. College for Women, Udhampur had to settle for Second and Third Prize, respectively. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Sheena Maini form Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Pooja Langeh from Govt. College for Women, Parade, Sandeep Singh Anand from Dogra Degree College, Bari-Brahamana, Shaji Khan from the Department of English, University of Jammu and Divjot Kour from GGM Science College, Evening.
In Western Group Song, the team from Govt. College for Women, bagged the the First Prize whereas the Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar and Acharya Sri Chandra College of Medical Sciences, Jammu clinched the Second and Third Team Prize, respectively. The Certificates of Merit were awarded to Govt. SPMR College of Commerce and Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, respectively.
. Digvijay Singh,. Naresh Sharma and Sumit Sharma, were amongst the adjudicators for the said event.
Dr. Monika Sethi, was the Teacher Incharge of this event and apprised the participants about the rules and regulations of the contest.
The programme was compeered by Sarang Vaid, Member, Students Cultural Council.
Prof G.M. Bhat, Chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes amongst the winners. Addressing the younger generation, Prof. Bhat said that it is the participation that matters not the prizes.
Among others, Prof. J.S. Tara, Dean Students Welfare, Dr. Sucheta Pathania, Vijay Atri, Assistant Dean (C.A), C.L. Bhagat, Assistant Registrar (SW), Vinay Thusoo, Public Relations Officer were also presented.
