| Bhim seeks intervention of SC | | Demands dignified return of legendry artist, M.F. Husain | | Early Times Report JAMMU,Feb 25 Prof. Bhim Singh, Member, National Integration Council, who is also the Chairman, National Panthers Party, a noted jurist filed writ petition (PIL) in the Supreme Court of India this evening seeking appropriate direction to the Union of India to ensure dignified, secured and respectful return of world-famous artist M.F. Husain who has been living in exile in Qatar (Middle-East) for several years. Prof. Bhim Singh also sought intervention of Supreme Court of India for a direction to the Union of India to take appropriate steps to end the criminal cases pending against Maqbool Fida Husain for several years. Prof. Bhim Singh in his petition has praised the Hindu Editor, Mr. N.Ram for dashing a touching note in the Hindu this morning informing the whole nation that Mr. M.F. Husain has been accorded nationality of Qatar, a small kingdom in the Gulf. Prof. Bhim Singh in his letter to the Prime Minister urged that appropriate measures need to be taken without any delay in the interest of the secular-democratic character of India. For that the honourable and respectful return of Mr. M.F. Husain, the legendry artist should be taken. The petition also stated that Supreme Court of India had earlier intervened twice in 2006 and 2008 by transferring some cases pending against him from different courts to Delhi.
