| Jitender Udhampuri felicitated | | | Sarita Jamwal Udhampur, Feb25 Principal, staff and students of Boys Government Higher Secondary School, Udhampur felicitated renowned scholar, writer, poet and former Director, Radio Kashmir, Jammu, Dr. Jitender Udhampuri, an alumnus of the school, for being awarded the most prestigious ‘Padam Shree Award’ for his outstanding contribution in the field of Education and Literature by the Government of India on Republic Day-2010, at a function held in the premises of the institution, here today. Besides being a reputed Broadcaster, Dr. Udhampur has worked over 45 years for the enrichment of Dogri and Hindi languages. He is the author of 25 books in different languages and is recipient of about 150 awards at State and National level. Some of his notable works have been translated in other languages like English, Hindi, Urdu, Kashmiri, Nepali and Czech. He is a trend setter in modern Dogri poetry and has introduced several innovative themes and experimented with new styles in his verse. Dr. Udhampuri who originally hails from Udhampur and now settled in Jammu, had been a student of Govt. Higher Secondary School (Boys), Udhampur from 1954 to 1958. The Principal, Govt. HSS Udhampur, Mr. Hans Raj Sharma, retd Professor Sansar Chand Gupta, retd. Chief Education Officer, Mr. P.N. Jandial, retd. highlighted the contribution of Dr. Jintender Udhampuri towards literature, art and culture which has brought name and fame for this institution in particular and Udhampur in general. They hoped that the extra-ordinary achievement of Dr. Udhampuri in having a highest national civil award would go a long way in inspiring the students of this school. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Udhampuri extended his thanks to the management of the school for honoring him. \
