| Separatist leader condemn stone-pelting in Valley | | Blames mainstream parties for patronizing stone pelters | | Early Times Report Srinagar, February 25 - Separatist Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani blames main stream political parties for patronizing stone pelters in Kashmir. For the first time, Geelani has come openly against stone pelters who have taken to streets. In a statement to local News Agency, he said that there has been all round condemnation and resentment against stone pelters in which eleven-day-old boy died as a result of stone pelting. Geelani appealed the people not to pay heed to their calls. In a statement, Geelani said that rivalry between political parties which has lost its power might be patronizing and said stone pelting is not the solution at any stage. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yasin Malik also condemned the stone pelters. He said,“We do not approve this kind of action and whosoever is involved should be punished.” It may be mentioned here that Kashmir Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom recently counselled the media not to refer to them as stone-throwers, but as the “youth of resistance.” However, on the death of Irfan, the Bar Association and other major separatists remained silent.
